mcgill graduate program in biophysics
Members of the CRBS and McGill University are working to develop a PhD Program in Biophysics. The program will be an interfaculty and interdepartmental program, pulling together rapidly evolving and converging disciplines and incorporating approaches from these diverse fields of study to advance biophysics research and optimize training for PhD candidates. An important part of the Biophysics Program will be the lab rotations during the first year (3 rotations), where students will experience different lab cultures, biophysical methods, and research topics. After the completion of the rotations, the students will match with a supervisor and laboratory for their thesis project work. Students entering the program will form a cohort, and will have many opportunities to form ties with the students in their year, as well as those of other cohorts.
As the proposed PhD program aims to recruit students from multidisciplinary backgrounds, the program has designed courses that provide a strong foundation in fundamental aspects of biophysics and offers a deep dive into the various methodologies used in biophysics. These courses will provide students with a comprehensive understanding of biophysics, including the breadth of biophysics research.
Students wishing to apply for Fall 2025 admission will shortly be able to search for Biophysics in the applications portal, here: Future Graduate Students - McGill University
