Jason Young (1966-2022)
Jason Young Service Award
Jason was enthusiastic about his science, but also very enthusiastic about service, especially service to student support and development. For example, he served as Graduate Program Director of the Biochemistry Department for over a decade.
In his honour, we have instituted this annual Jason Young Service Award in 2022, and will bestow it to a CRBS student who has gone above and beyond in their service to the CRBS in the previous academic year. It will come with a certificate and a monetary award.

The Third Annual Jason Young Service Award is shared between 2 students and was presented to Sabrina Romanelli and Ali Behvarmanesh for the academic year 2023-2024. They have booth been actively involved and fully committed to all CRBS events, and have done a great job leading.
The Second Annual Jason Young Service Award is shared between 2 students and was presented to Garvit Bhatt and Lauralicia Sacre (not on the picture) for the academic year 2022-2023. Garvit’s leadership and valuable networking has greatly improved the presence of the CRBS on campus while Laura’s flexibility and initiative has been a driving force in maintaining the core student events, such as the Seminar Series.
The First Annual Jason Young Service Award was presented to Tianxiao Peter Yang for the academic year 2021-2022. Peter did an outstanding job as President of the CRBS Student Consortium.
